A new replacement method using precast segments designed for transverse (widthwise) split construction. Because the components are remanufactured in a factory and only need to be assembled on-site, rapid construction is possible regardless of weather conditions. This allows the construction period to be cut in half compared to conventional methods.

Minimizing traffic restrictions through split construction
The new superstructure is designed to function even when divided, allowing construction to proceed while keeping part of the lanes open. This approach minimizes the impact of lane closures. The divided bridge girders are joined at the deck level using Obayashi’s proprietary deck joint system, SLIM FASTENER.
